Detasseling// Things I'm loving #8

Well, detasseling is {Lordwilling} about half over! This is the point where I am normally a walking zombie. This year is no different. At this point I am sick of dealing with stupid {and I am being nice when I say stupid- a lot of other words come to mind} kids who don’t get it even when I explain something in simple sentences one hundred times. My 10 month old brother understands better than they do.

Because of lack of crew leaders I have had my own crew two days, and been a checker the rest of the time. I like not having to pick better, but at the same time it can be pretty boring if you have a good crew. When you don’t have a good crew- um… a nice word… hmm… I guess Ill just keep my mouth shut so I don’t get in trouble.

I am tired now. Not really like “I need to sleep” tired- more like sick of corn tired. Sick of walking tired. I think I have probably walked at least 3 to 5 miles through corn fields every day we have worked. That’s what happens when you have super good {fast} kids, and stupid {slow} kids. Some are at one end of the field, while the others are still at the beginning.

I found out that I got a raise this year- which is really nice. Usually you don't get a raise until you are officially a crew leader. Maybe its because I have worked 5 years now- I think there is only one person there who has worked longer than me and my dad.

Summer // Things I'm Loving

Well, my {semi-normal} summer is just about over. We got a call this week that detasseling starts {dark and early} tomorrow morning. It is about 2 weeks early this year, but I'm excited. A lot of people I know are doing it, so hopefully it will be really fun! =P

This past week was really busy. We got a ton done on our house, lost power for a day, and endured 100 degree weather with no A/C.

I mowed our ENTIRE lawn/cleared area. After adding it all up, I think it took me 6 1/2 to 8 hours over Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It was hot and I got fairly burnt. Oh yeah, and I think I should mention that I saw 3 snakes, screamed once, and killed one. {thats an accomplishment.}

Summer// Things I'm Loving #6

Well summer is finally pretty much here. We are trying to plan our garden, we have been outside pretty much all week, Suzy is coming home and our detasseling meeting is this week, so, yeah. Summer is here.

Ironically- even though it is THE hardest, most strenuous job on earth- I am looking forward to detasseling. I’m on my 5th year and I still have a love-hate towards it. =D Our crew is totally awesome {especially after working with morons the first 3 years}, and I would say that is a huge part of what I am looking forward to; I’m even looking forward to G & J fighting. {yup. had to say that.}

Things I'm lovin' #2

{pretty cool, huh?}

//Genesis 28:15//
And, behold, I{the LORD} am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

//Psalms 37:3-5 ,7//
Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.  Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him
fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way,
 because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

//Psalms 37:23-24//
  The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

God has been working in a lot of ways... I have a lot of things to learn. I have to trust, but everything, in each situation, will work out how the LORD wants it too... We just have to be patient.
